Nepal Embassy seeks voluntary contributions for flood victims

The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka has appealed to individuals, organisations and institutions in Bangladesh to make voluntary financial contributions to support victims of devastating flash floods in Nepal.

The appeal came after flash floods struck the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers in Nepal on August 26, causing loss of lives and property and leaving many people injured, missing and severely affected.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, the Embassy said it had received an outpouring of messages of solidarity and offers of assistance from the Government and people of Bangladesh, as well as friends, well-wishers and various institutions.

The Embassy expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity extended to the people of Nepal following the disaster.

Responding to growing inquiries about how to support the victims, the Embassy said it has opened a dedicated bank account to facilitate voluntary financial contributions.

The account has been opened in the name of the Embassy of Nepal, Dhaka, with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC at its Gulshan branch. The account number is 1000028629.

The Embassy encouraged interested individuals, organisations and institutions in Bangladesh to join hands with the people of Nepal during the difficult period.

“Every contribution, big or small, will be deeply appreciated,” the Embassy said in its appeal.

The initiative reflects the close people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Nepal, with the Embassy acknowledging the solidarity extended by Bangladesh following the natural disaster.
