India, Bangladesh discuss connectivity and development projects
Indian High Commissioner Shri Dinesh Trivedi met with Bangladesh’s Minister of Shipping, Railways, Road Transport and Bridges Shaikh Rabiul Alam on Tuesday, with the two sides discussing ways to strengthen connectivity and cooperation between the neighbouring countries.
The meeting was held on September 8, with State Minister for Road, Highways and Railways Habibur Rashid also present.
According to a post shared by the High Commission of India, the meeting covered a range of issues of mutual interest relating to railways, shipping, connectivity and bilateral development projects.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening connectivity between India and Bangladesh, describing it as a key enabler of greater economic engagement and closer people-to-people relations.
Improved connectivity has remained an important area of cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, particularly through transport and infrastructure links involving railways, waterways and roads.
The discussions between the Indian High Commissioner and Bangladesh’s senior officials also highlighted the broader development potential of enhanced transport connectivity, which can facilitate trade, investment and movement between the two countries.
The meeting underscored the shared interest of Dhaka and New Delhi in advancing practical cooperation in infrastructure and connectivity-related areas.
Closer transport links between the two countries are also expected to contribute to stronger economic ties and increased people-to-people exchanges, while supporting broader bilateral development objectives.
The latest engagement reflects continued diplomatic efforts by Bangladesh and India to maintain cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strengthen the foundations of their bilateral partnership.
