Uber Organizes Community Road Safety Programme Ahead of National Road Safety Day

Uber, Bangladesh's leading ridesharing app, organized a community road safety awareness programme in Keraniganj, Dhaka, ahead of National Road Safety Day on October 22.
As part of the programme, Uber distributed motorcycle safety gear, including helmets, riding gloves and reflective vests to Uber Bike driver partners. Driver partners, community representatives and local leaders also took part in the event.
The event marked the “Ride Safe, Arrive Safe”, Uber's three-month road safety campaign running from October to December. The campaign will focus on preventive safety practices and driver partner well-being, building on Uber's ongoing road safety efforts in Bangladesh.
Commenting on the initiative, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, MP, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, said, “Road safety is a shared responsibility and creating greater awareness among riders is an important step towards safer roads. Initiatives that combine road safety awareness with opportunities to earn through technology can benefit both riders and communities. I appreciate Uber's efforts to encourage responsible riding and support earning opportunities. I will continue to stand by and support such initiatives by Uber”
Adv. Nipun Roy Chowdhury, MP, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, said, “Road safety depends on responsible behavior, awareness and cooperation among all stakeholders. We welcome Uber's initiatives that encourage motorcycle riders to follow safe riding practices and help build greater awareness on the road. Continued collaboration between public and private stakeholders can play an important role in making our roads safer.”
SM Jamshed Hasan, Country Head, Uber Bangladesh, said, “Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Uber. We are committed to working with the government and other stakeholders to encourage responsible riding and support safer roads. Through technology, education and collaboration, we want to make every Bike trip safer while creating opportunities for riders to earn through the platform.”
Uber continues to invest in technology and education to support safer trips on two-wheelers. Features including Helmet Selfies, rider safety reminders, GPS tracking and SOS support are designed to encourage responsible riding and provide additional support throughout the trip.
