Yao Wen calls for stronger Bangladesh-China ties

Dhaka, September 22, 2026: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has called for further strengthening Bangladesh-China relations and laying a solid foundation for what he described as the next “Golden Fifty Years” of bilateral ties.

He made the remarks while attending a reception marking the 77th anniversary of China’s National Day, hosted by the Bangladesh-China Culture, Economy & Mass Communication Center in Dhaka on Monday.

Local Government Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, MPs Altaf Hossain Choudhury and Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, and nearly 200 distinguished guests from different sectors attended the event.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Yao said the friendship between China and Bangladesh had a long history and continued to grow stronger with time.

He expressed gratitude to various sections of Bangladeshi society for their support for and engagement in China-Bangladesh cooperation.

China is ready to share its experience in modernisation with Bangladesh and work together to build a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era, he said.

Yao also stressed the importance of strengthening the foundations for the next “Golden Fifty Years” of bilateral relations.

Abdul Moyeen Khan congratulated China on its National Day and praised the country's achievements in modernisation.

Recalling China's first artificial satellite broadcasting the song The East Is Red, he said the achievement had inspired Asian nations and peoples of the developing world to move forward.

He expressed hope that Bangladesh-China relations would continue to make progress for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

The reception came amid continued efforts to expand cooperation between Bangladesh and China across multiple sectors.
