Swiss envoy meets Nodi Rocks founder ahead of river dialogue in Dhaka
Dhaka, September 22, 2026: Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli met Sharmin Sultana Sumi, founder of the Nodi Rocks initiative and lead vocalist of Chirkutt, ahead of the upcoming Kollolini: A River Dialogue 2026 in Dhaka.
The meeting focused on the return of Nodi Rocks, an initiative that uses music and culture to reconnect young people with Bangladesh's rivers and promote awareness of climate and environmental protection.
Switzerland is supporting the return of the initiative, according to the Swiss Embassy.
Nodi Rocks previously brought together seven Bangladeshi bands to create songs dedicated to seven important rivers of the country, seeking to highlight the cultural and ecological significance of Bangladesh's river systems.
The initiative demonstrates how music and cultural expression can be used to encourage greater public engagement in protecting the environment and preserving the country's rivers, the embassy said.
As part of Kollolini: A River Dialogue 2026, the Nodi Rocks Concert will be held in Dhaka on September 24.
The event is expected to bring together cultural and environmental voices to highlight the importance of Bangladesh's rivers and strengthen public awareness about their protection.
