Five arrive in Russia for international climate, environment Olympiad

Dhaka, September 22, 2026: Five Bangladeshi students have arrived in Russia to represent Bangladesh at the International Olympiad on Climate Change and Environmental Issues (IOCE 2026), following months of preparation.

The Bangladesh team is taking part in the international competition in the Sirius Federal Territory in Sochi, after completing preparatory workshops in Dhaka.

The students were selected through the BOCE Olympiad and have been preparing for the international event with guidance from organisers of the Bangladeshi Olympiad.

According to the Russian House of Bangladesh, the mentors themselves represented Bangladesh at IOCE 2025 in Russia, where they won gold medals.

The organisers congratulated the five young representatives on reaching the international stage and expressed hope that they would demonstrate their knowledge, confidence and teamwork during the competition.

The participation of the Bangladeshi students in the Olympiad also provides an opportunity for them to exchange knowledge and experiences with participants from other countries on climate change and environmental issues.

The event is being held in Russia, with the Bangladeshi team aiming to showcase the country's growing youth engagement in climate and environmental issues.
