Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan says parliament should ensure free speech through logical debate.
BNP Standing Committee member and Narsingdi-2 lawmaker Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan today said the present parliament will play an effective role in ensuring freedom of speech for all.
He said, “Anyone can speak freely in the current parliament, but discussions should be based on logic and argument, rather than emotion. Debate among political parties with differing opinions is a normal part of a democratic system.”
The veteran BNP leader made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the orientation ceremony for the 27th batch of students at Gutia International Medical College in Tongi this morning.
Dr Moyeen Khan called upon the new students to develop themselves into skilled physicians with humane values.
College’s principal Prof A.S.M. Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury chaired the event while Munira Azim, Chairman of International Medicare Limited; M. A. Mubin Khan, Managing Director and Chairman of the IMC Governing Body; and Colonel Dr. Sajjad Ahmed A. K. Khan Jillani, Director of the Medical College spoke as the special guests.
College authorities reported that a total of 130 students, both domestic and international, have been admitted for the current academic year. Among them, 55 are international students from various regions, including India, Nepal, and Kashmir. After the ceremony, the new students took part in a tree-plantation program on the campus.
