Anee says BNP prioritizes people’s welfare over photo-ops.
Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today said that the BNP does not do ‘photo-op politics’ but works for the welfare of the country’s people.
“BNP never does photo-op politics. It does not believe in photo-show politics. BNP does politics for the people,” he said.
The said this while speaking at an event as the chief guest after inaugurating a cleanliness drive to clean the Rahmatkhali canal in the Lakshmipur municipal area this morning.
The Lakshmipur district units of Jubo Dal and Krishak Dal organized the programme as part of a nationwide campaign to clean rivers, canals, water bodies and other water bodies in line with the Prime Minister’s directives.
Noting that the BNP government is making utmost efforts to ensure welfare for the country’s people, Anee said, “After 17 years of oppression, torture, enforced disappearances and killings, an election was held in the country, and the BNP formed the government with the people’s mandate,” he said.
“The government could not complete all its tasks within just six months,” he said, adding, Jamaat’s call for a long march at this stage is not appropriate.
Anny said people have high hopes, confidence and expectations from the BNP government, and that the government is therefore implementing development activities on a priority basis.
Noting that the project to re-excavate 20,000 kilometres of canals had been undertaken based on BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s far-sighted thinking and planning, he said, “The work to re-excavate 20,000 kilometres of canals has not yet been completed. It is still underway. People are already getting benefit from the canal excavation.”
But instead of cooperating with the government, the opposition is making various comments about the government, the minister said, adding, this cannot be desirable in any way.
“The opposition should point out the government’s mistakes and cooperate with it. The BNP expects that,” he said.
Lakshmipur Zilla Parishad Administrator and BNP district unit Member Secretary Sahab Uddin Sabu, district BNP Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, district Swechhasebak Dal President Mohsin Kabir Swapan and General Secretary Harunur Rashid, and district Krishak Dal President Mahabub Alam Mamun and General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Sohel were present at the event, among others.
