According to a party press release issued today, the secretary general briefed the meeting on the implementation of decisions taken at the previous Standing Committee meeting.

The committee expressed satisfaction over the progress of the government's priority programmes, including the Family Card, Farmer Card, canal excavation programme and allowance schemes for imams, muezzins, Hindu priests, church fathers and Buddhist temple caretakers.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the party's election manifesto, highly appreciating Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's initiatives and expressing hope that the manifesto's targets would be achieved within the stipulated timeframe.

The committee condemned the attempts by the opposition to mislead people over the July Charter and the referendum, and decided to intensify efforts to communicate the party's position to the public.

It instructed the relevant individuals and institutions to take necessary steps in this regard.

The meeting discussed elections to different tiers of local government and called upon party units across the country to strengthen their organisational activities.

It also decided to convene a meeting of the party's National Executive Committee as early as possible and entrusted the secretary general with making the necessary arrangements.

The Standing Committee also reviewed the results of the 2026 parliamentary election and requested Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan to prepare a comprehensive report on the matter.

The meeting was informed about the agreements signed during the Prime Minister's recent visits to Malaysia and China.

It appreciated the enhanced cooperation and development partnership with the two countries, saying the visits had marked significant progress based on mutual respect. The committee congratulated the Prime Minister on successful outcome of the tours.

Expressing deep concern over the renewed conflict between Iran and the United States following an earlier ceasefire, the committee urged both countries to end hostilities and resolve their differences through dialogue, saying the conflict was adversely affecting the economies of the Middle East and other regions.

The committee viewed the election of Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman as President of the United Nations General Assembly as a major diplomatic achievement under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership. It expressed hope that the development would enhance Bangladesh's global standing and contribute positively to resolving the Rohingya crisis.

The meeting also voiced deep concern over the growing drug problem in the country and urged the government to adopt more effective measures to combat the menace.

To further strengthen organisational activities, the committee directed the party's central, associate and affiliated bodies to become more active.

The meeting expressed profound grief at the deaths of former party treasurer, former minister and former Munshiganj lawmaker Mizanur Rahman Sinha, and former chief whip, former minister and former Brahmanbaria lawmaker Harun-or-Rashid.
