Bangladesh, China seek stronger defence cooperation, strategic ties
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today paid a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) office in Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, the Shamsul Islam hoped that defence cooperation, military training and joint technological initiatives between Bangladesh and China would be further expanded and strengthened in the days ahead.
He highly appreciated the Chinese ambassador's constructive role and contributions to elevating bilateral and defence relations between Bangladesh and China to a new height during his tenure in Bangladesh, said an ISPR press release.
The defence adviser expressed sincere gratitude to China for its continued cooperation in the modernisation of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, enhancement of institutional capabilities and professional development.
The outgoing Chinese ambassador said Bangladesh is a highly trusted friend of China and one of its important development and strategic partners.
He recalled with gratitude the full cooperation and support he received from the Defence Adviser and the Armed Forces during his tenure in Bangladesh.
Yao Wen expressed hope that mutual trust, longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries would continue to grow in the future, the ISPR release added.
