NU VC urges cultural revolution for good governance.
National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah has called for a cultural revolution across the country to promote good governance, patriotism and a sense of responsibility among citizens.
He made the remarks while addressing students at the inaugural ceremony of the 1st National Debate Festival 2026, organised by the Tejgaon College Debating Club in the capital today.
A total of 64 teams — 32 college-level and 32 university-level — are participating in the debate.
Dr Amanullah urged teachers and students to work together to bring about positive cultural change. He encouraged National University students to be confident, highlighting their significant contributions to the country's banking, insurance, financial and corporate sectors.
He also called for education- and student-friendly campuses where conflicts are resolved constructively through academic competition, research and debate.
National University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Lutfor Rahaman said debate develops critical thinking, logical reasoning and the ability to distinguish facts from emotions.
The festival was inaugurated under the slogan, “Let Bangladesh awaken to the sound of youth and the victory song of liberation.”
Tejgaon College Acting Principal Professor Shamima Yasmin chaired the programme.
