Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam today urged trainees of a pilot project to develop discipline, a sense of responsibility, self-confidence and practical skills to effectively discharge their duties.
“Enhance your respective capabilities to develop discipline, sense of responsibility, self-confidence and practical skills for effectively discharging duties,” he told the trainees while inaugurating the first phase of the Youth Force Development and National Security Capability Enhancement Pilot Project as the chief guest.
The inaugural function was held at the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) Training Academy at Baipayl in Savar, said an ISPR media release.
The training programme began simultaneously today in nine districts -- Savar in Dhaka, Tangail, Sylhet, Chattogram, Barishal, Bogura, Gazipur, Patuakhali and Rajshahi.
The Defence Adviser urged the participants to take the training seriously and make the best use of the opportunities to enhance their individual and collective capabilities.
Under the pilot project, members of Ansar-VDP and BNCC will receive capability-enhancement training under the supervision of their respective organisations.
Besides, members of Ansar-VDP and Scouts will undergo week-long civil defence training under the supervision of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The pilot project aims to enhance the capabilities of BNCC, Ansar-VDP, Scouts and Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel while contributing to youth development and strengthening national security preparedness, ISPR added.
Senior officials of the Army, Navy and Air Force, along with high-ranking officials of different organisations, attended the inaugural programme.
