Fertilizer Dealerships to Be Cancelled Over Distribution Irregularities
Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Mohammed Aminur Rashid today said fertilizer dealerships would be cancelled if irregularities were found in fertilizer distribution and management.
He also warned that departmental action would be taken against any official found involved in irregularities.
The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting on fertilizer supply for the upcoming Rabi season with Deputy Commissioners and Deputy Directors of the Department of Agricultural Extension at the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture at the Secretariat, said a press release.
He said the licences of newly appointed fertilizer dealers would be cancelled if allegations of irregularities, corruption or harassment of farmers were substantiated.
Emphasising transparency and accountability in fertilizer management, he said dealership areas must be determined alongside issuing licences to newly appointed dealers. The amount of land, number of farmers and crop intensity must be taken into consideration in determining the areas.
