Government declares 2026-27 as Nazrul Year

The government has declared 2026-2027 year as the ‘Nazrul Year’ to recall and honor nationally the ideal, spirit and creation of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

To mark the event, the cabinet division has asked to use designated logo of the Nazrul year in all the official letterheads till May 26, 2027, said a official order of the cabinet division.

To highlight the ideals, spirit and literary works of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam nationally, the government has declared May 25, 2026 to May 25, 2027 as the Nazrul Year.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the designated logo of the ‘Nazrul Year’ on July 2, 2026, said the notification.

As part of celebrating the ‘Nazrul Year’ with due respect, the Cultural Affairs Ministry has requested to use designated logo in the official letters of all the government offices.

After the official request by the cultural affairs ministry, the cabinet division has asked all ministries, division and their subordinate departments, offices, directorate, agencies and autonomous bodies to use Nazrul year’s logo in their official letterhead till May 25, 2027.

The initiative has been taken with the aim of upholding the ideals and creation of the national poet in the activities and spirit of the nation, according to the notification.

At the same time, emphasis has been given on using logo in the official correspondence of all the government offices aiming to make the celebration of the Nazrul Year more meaningful and integrated at the national level.

The cabinet division directives have already been sent to the Prime Minister’s office, all the ministries and division, secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers (UNO) and all the government agencies for taking necessary action.
