Govt prioritises youth skills, safe overseas employment opportunities

State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin has said the government has taken effective steps to enhance the skills of the youth, including job-oriented education and necessary training.

She said the government wants to build a self-reliant youth force through dignified and safe employment.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting as the chief guest at the Lalpur Pilot Girls' High School auditorium here on Thursday evening.

Study Abroad Consultancy GT Group organised the meeting to expand employment opportunities abroad, including in South Korea.

Farzana Sharmin said the youth are the asset of the country, and opportunities must be created for their safe and dignified employment while keeping their future secure. The government is active in this regard, she said.

Everyone must play a responsible role to keep employment initiatives safe, so that employment abroad does not become fraudulent or cause financial and social harm, she added.

Farzana Sharmin also said if employment opportunities are created for Bangladeshi youths in developed countries, including South Korea, it can help eliminate unemployment and play a positive role in the country's economy.

In this regard, ensuring proper training for workers, language skills and a legal migration process is very important, she opined.

She said before going abroad, they must have a clear idea about the concerned organisation, job contract, salary, allowances and other benefits. The concerned government offices must play a responsible role in this regard, she added.

Lalpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kazi Meshkatul Islam, GT Group Chairman Park Ji Young, and Chief Executive Officer Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, among others, also spoke at the meeting.
