DHAKA, Oct 6: Japan has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Bangladesh in the food and agriculture sector as Japanese food companies showcased their products to Bangladeshi buyers in Dhaka.

Ms Yoshida Aya, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, attended the “Japanese Food Showcase: The Global Gateway” on Monday, organised by the Dhaka office of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

The event brought together Japanese food companies and Bangladeshi buyers for product presentations, tasting sessions and business meetings, creating opportunities for new commercial partnerships.

In her remarks, Yoshida expressed hope that the showcase would help generate new business partnerships and expand the availability of Japanese food products for consumers in Bangladesh.

She also reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh in the food and agriculture sector under the Japan-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership.

The showcase comes as Japan and Bangladesh continue to broaden economic cooperation beyond traditional areas, with food and agriculture emerging as potential sectors for greater business engagement.
