KOICA expands volunteer cooperation and skills partnership in Bangladesh.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency
(KOICA) has shown its keen interest to strengthen its volunteer cooperation
in Bangladesh.

This was observed as the South Korean overseas development agency today held
a workshop in Dhaka to strengthen cooperation with host institutions
participating in its volunteer programme and expand collaboration in human
resource development and cultural exchange.

The 2026 World Friends Korea (WFK) Host Organization Workshop was organised
by the KOICA Bangladesh Office at a city hotel, bringing together
representatives of Technical Training Centres (TTCs), university language
institutes, Korean language teachers and partner organisations from across
the country.

Speaking at the opening session, KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Jihoon Kim
underscored the importance of strong partnerships with host organisations in
ensuring the effectiveness and impact of volunteer activities in Bangladesh.

He also highlighted the role of the WFK Volunteer Programme in promoting
cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties between Bangladesh
and South Korea.

Deputy Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) Ireen Pervin,
attending the event as the chief guest, praised the collaborative efforts of
partner institutions and stressed the need for sharing experiences and ideas
to ensure the programme's long-term sustainability.

Among others, Deputy Director (Training) of the Bureau of Manpower,
Employment and Training (BMET) Engineer Mohammad Nuruzzaman attended the
programme.

The workshop featured a series of discussions on cultural cooperation,
volunteer engagement and future collaboration between KOICA and its partner
organisations.

Participants from various institutions exchanged views through group
discussions on the core competencies and expectations for volunteers serving
in Bangladesh.

The closing session was addressed by KOICA Bangladesh Deputy Country Director
Junsu Kim.

According to KOICA, this year's workshop saw expanded participation from TTCs
and university language institutes that host Korean language instructors
under the WFK Volunteer Programme, reflecting its growing contribution to
skills development and human resource capacity building in Bangladesh.
