Law commission proposals to be executed in line with July Charter: Law Minister
rime Minister’s Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is the poet of awakening and remains relevant at all times.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion organized by the Natore Zila Parishad at its auditorium in observance of Nazrul Year.
Rizvi said the nation continues to learn the values of justice from Nazrul’s literary works.
He noted that in the movements of 1947, 1971, and even 2024, the nation was inspired by Nazrul’s songs.
He added that Nazrul was not only the "Rebel Poet," but also a poet of love, spirituality, and humanity—a poet for everyone.
Rizvi said Nazrul’s ideals should be spread not only in cities but also in every village across the country, adding that this is why the Prime Minister declared the observance of Nazrul Year.
Turning to politics, he said the opposition parties fail to recognize the changes brought by the BNP government.
Since the BNP assumed office, there have been no enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, or stock market scandals over the past several months, he said.
He said in the past, farmers had taken their own lives after failing to receive fair prices for jute, whereas they are now receiving fair prices for jute and other agricultural produce.
He said the party would fulfill all the promises it made before coming to power.
He noted that agricultural loans for farmers have already been waived, canal excavation projects are underway across the country, Family Card and Farmers Card programmes have been launched.
He also said that the government has begun considering measures to reopen closed industrial establishments.
Speaking at the event, Jatiya Sangsad Whip M. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu said Nazrul’s songs and poetry are a driving force in their lives and that people find the language to protest injustice through his works. He added that this is why the Prime Minister is giving the National Poet the recognition he deserves.
Md. Rahim Newaz, Administrator of the Natore Zila Parishad, chaired the event.
Nazrul researcher Dr. Munshi Abu Saif, Associate Professor at Chuadanga Government College, and Md. Golam Mostafa, Associate Professor at Netrokona Government College, also discussed on Nazrul’s literature and philosophy.
Local administrative officers and BNP leaders were present.
