Low-pressure area prompts cautionary signals at Bangladesh ports.
A low pressure area has formed over North Bay and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coast which is likely to intensify while the maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining Coastal areas of Bangladesh, according to a latest warning issued by the storm warning center of the meteorological department here today.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty wind with a speed of 45-60 km/hour likely to occur at many places including Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, NOakhali, Cumilla and Cox’s Bazar regions.
The river ports of these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary sign number one, confirmed by an official handout.
