Nepal promotes its tourism attractions in Dhaka, seeking stronger Bangladesh partnerships, improved connectivity and joint travel packages.
DHAKA: Nepal has called on Bangladeshi travellers to explore its diverse tourism offerings, as the two neighbouring countries seek to strengthen tourism cooperation, business partnerships and people-to-people connections.
The appeal came at a tourism promotion programme titled “Nepal Is Calling: Visit, Explore, Experience”, organised by the Embassy of Nepal in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board in Dhaka on Wednesday evening.
Speaking at the event, Nepal Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari described tourism and people-to-people contacts as important pillars of bilateral relations.
Highlighting the geographical proximity, cultural similarities and diverse tourism attractions of the two countries, he encouraged Bangladeshi travellers to visit Nepal and experience its natural beauty, cultural heritage and adventure opportunities.
The ambassador also referred to the devastating flash floods of August 26, 2026, highlighting the resilience of Nepal’s tourism industry and ongoing efforts to strengthen the sector.
Dr Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, secretary of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, attended the programme as the chief guest.
She stressed the importance of tourism cooperation and improved connectivity in deepening bilateral relations.
Chowdhury urged travel and tour operators from both countries to expand business networks, establish stronger partnerships and develop joint tourism packages to attract more visitors and bring their peoples closer.
During the programme, Santosh Kumar Ghimire, senior manager at the Nepal Tourism Board, presented Nepal’s tourism potential across leisure, culture, spirituality, adventure, wellness and MICE tourism, which covers meetings, incentives, conferences and events.
He highlighted Nepal as a year-round destination, emphasising its hospitality and readiness to welcome international visitors.
Deputy Chief of Mission Pratik Karki, Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) President Mohammed Hanif and Asian Tourism Fair Chairman Mohiuddin Helal also spoke at the event.
The programme began with business-to-business (B2B) sessions involving tour operators and travel agencies from Nepal and Bangladesh. The discussions provided a platform for exploring travel packages, group tours and joint promotional initiatives.
Tour operators, travel agency representatives and other stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality industries of both countries attended the formal session that followed.
The event also featured cultural performances showcasing Nepal’s heritage. A raffle draw offered prizes, including air tickets sponsored by Himalaya Airlines and holiday packages provided by participating Nepali travel agencies.
The tourism promotion programme comes as Nepalese tour operators and travel agencies, led by the Nepal Tourism Board, participate in the 14th Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF), scheduled to take place in Dhaka from October 29 to 31, 2026.
The participation is expected to provide further opportunities for tourism businesses from the two countries to establish partnerships, promote travel products and explore new avenues for cooperation.
With geographical proximity and shared cultural connections offering a strong foundation, enhanced connectivity and coordinated tourism promotion could help expand travel between Bangladesh and Nepal.
