PMO official urges end to bad journalism online

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman has called for an end to what he described as “bad journalism” carried out in the competition for online views.

He made the call at a press conference held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today to inform the public about the people-oriented initiatives undertaken by the premier surrounding Eid-ul-Azha.
Speaking at the conference, Ruman said the country's media outlets are now completely free, as evidenced by television screens and newspaper pages.

However, he noted that some online platforms are creating photo cards based on imagination and spreading edited statements and videos in the name of reels.

According to him, this sometimes sends misleading messages and creates opportunities for social disorder.

Therefore, he urged media outlets to stop such practices carried out in pursuit of views.
He said the government is committed to ensuring good governance and enabling people to live in peace.

“When people across the country were enjoying their Eid holidays, our Prime Minister continued working. He did not take a holiday. Those of us who are part of his team also worked during the Eid vacation days, including on Eid day itself,” said Ruman.

He added on the day after Eid, the prime minister personally drove around Dhaka inspecting the management of sacrificial waste, checking where cleaning had been completed and where it had not.
Wherever he found mismanagement, he took immediate action and also acted against those responsible, said Ruman.

“The prime minister works approximately 12 to 13 hours every day, and sometimes even as much as 16 hours,” said the additional press secretary.

He said Tarique Rahman celebrated Eid-ul-Azha in the country after a long period.

However, despite the joy of Eid, there remained a sense of emptiness, as memories associated with former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia came to mind during the festivities, he mentioned.

PMO spokesperson and adviser Mahdi Amin, Speech Writer Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Press Secretaries Jahidul Islam Rony and Md. Suzauddhowla and Assistant Press Secretaries Md. Nazmul Haque Khan and Abdullah Al Mahmud Shahriar were present.
