Ruman pays tribute to late Arafat Rahman Koko.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today paid tribute to late Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, on his 57th birth anniversary.
“Today is August 12. I remember dear Arafat Rahman Koko bhai. Some people leave us, but their memories remain etched in people’s hearts. Arafat Rahman Koko bhai was one such person—a visionary who worked quietly, preferred to stay away from the limelight and was deeply devoted to the country’s sports arena,” Ruman said in an emotional post on his Facebook page today.
Ruman said Koko’s contributions to advancing cricket in Bangladesh, particularly his role in club cricket and cricket development, would remain etched in the country’s sporting history and be remembered with respect.
Remembering Koko, the only younger brother of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, with deep respect and affection, Ruman said he passed away at the age of only 45 on January 24, 2015, in a cruel twist of fate.
“His departure was not only an irreparable loss for a family but also for Bangladesh’s sports arena,” he said.
“On his birth anniversary, I remember dear Koko bhai with deep respect and affection. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala forgive the departed soul and grant him Jannatul Ferdous,” Ruman said.
