ZRF pays tribute to July Mass Uprising martyrs.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) today paid solemn tribute to those who lost their lives in the July Mass Uprising, describing their sacrifices as a lasting symbol of the nation's struggle for democracy, justice and freedom from tyranny.
In a statement marking August 5, signed by the foundation's Executive Director Professor Dr Farhad Halim Doner, ZRF said the sacrifices of the martyrs would remain forever etched in Bangladesh's history and serve as a reminder that freedom, democracy and human rights are never achieved without sacrifice.
"Some bloodstains never fade, and some sacrifices are never forgotten," the statement said, adding that many families continue to bear the pain of losing their loved ones, while the grief of parents and children remains unresolved.
The foundation urged the nation to honour the martyrs by safeguarding democracy, protecting human rights and working towards building a just and inclusive Bangladesh.
It also stressed the need of preserving the dignity of the martyrs' sacrifices and strengthening democratic values would be the highest tribute to those who laid down their lives for the country.
