New leadership set to steer housing sector
Chairman of Glorious Lands and Developments Ltd and founder and Managing Director of the Krishibid Group D. Md. Ali Afzal has been elected as new president of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB).
The association also elected Mr. Abdur Razzaque, Chairman of Arma Real Estate Ltd. as its senior vice president.
The president Ali Afzal secured 232 votes, which is highest number among his nearest candidates of this position. His closest rival candidate former president managing director of Japan Garden City Md Wahiduzzaman received 193 votes.
Another candidate Capital Land Development Ltd Managing Director Mr. Mukarram Husain Khan and Nabo Uddoge Ltd. Managing Director and CEO Engr. Md. Abul Khair Salim secured 90 and 12 votes respectively.
In the race for Senior Vice President, Abdur Razzaque won his position a closely contested election with 216 votes where narrowly defeating former Senior Vice President chairman of Brick Works Limited Liakat Ali Bhyiyan who got 214 votes. He failed for only two votes. Another candidate Managing Director of Basic Builders Ltd. Engr. Abdul Latif have received 97 votes.
Meanwhile, other key position include Mohammad Akter Biswas has been elected vice president 1 with 250 votes, Abu Khalid Md. Bafkatullah elected as Vice President 2 with 255 votes, AFM Ubaidullah Vice President 3 with 234 votes, Dr Md Harun or Rashid Vice President Finance with 262 votes, Mohammad Morshedul Hasan elected as Vice President Chittagong with the highest vote count of 317.
Another director are: Md. Labib Billah Umme Jahan Arju, Habibur Rahman Habib, A.Z.M. Kamruddin, Capt. Md. Shah Alam, Md Khaza Nazibullah, Shak Kamal, Md. Eamdadul Hussain, Shohel, Dr. N. Zoha, Al-haj Prof. Md. Faruk, Ahmad Tasnova Mahbub Salam, Md. Zohir Ahmed, Md. Jahid Hossain, Engr. Md. Mostafa Kamal, Md. Emdadul Haque Md. Mahbubur Rahman M Fakhrul Islam, Engr. Monjorul Forhad Philip, Suraz Sarder, Al-Haj Golam Kibria, Mozumder Md. Mobarak Hossain, Md. Ayub Ali, AFM Kamal Uddin, Md. Sultan Mahmud, Syed Shamim Aziz.
The committee will run REHAB for the next two years.
Voting for all posts was held at the REHAB office in the city on Saturday night under the supervision of an election board led by Md. Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan.
Another two members were Abul Kayum Talukder Moni and Hazi Md. Shariful Islam.
