BANGLADESH GROUPED WITH SRI LANKA AND BHUTAN IN TECNO SAFF CHAMPIONSHIP BANGLADESH 2026 DRAW
The journey towards the TECNO SAFF Championship Bangladesh 2026 reached another major milestone as the Official Draw Ceremony was held in Thimphu, Bhutan, determining the group-stage line-up for South Asia's premier international football tournament.
Held following the SAFF Ordinary Congress 2026, the ceremony brought together senior representatives from the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), along with presidents and senior officials of the seven SAFF Member Associations and key tournament stakeholders.
The Official Draw was conducted by Purushottam Kattel, General Secretary of the South Asian Football Federation; Dasho Ugen Tsechup, President of the Bhutan Football Federation; and Rezwanul Hoque, CEO of Ismartu Technology BD Limited, representing TECNO Mobile Bangladesh as the tournament's Title Sponsor. Their participation reflected the collaboration among the tournament organizer, the host federation of the draw ceremony and the Title Sponsor as the championship moves towards its next stage.
According to the Official Draw results, host nation Bangladesh have been placed in Group A alongside Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, while Group B consists of India, Maldives and Pakistan. Nepal's participation remains subject to FIFA clearance.
The draw sets the stage for an exciting regional competition as Bangladesh prepares to host the championship from 4 to 17 November 2026.
