AmCham marks 30 years

The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) celebrated its 30th anniversary at a gala event at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on Saturday.

The event brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders and representatives of AmCham member companies to mark three decades of Bangladesh-US economic partnership.

Speaking at the event, AmCham President Syed Mohammad Kamal called for a clear energy roadmap, regulatory reforms, stronger intellectual property protection and an improved investment climate.

US Ambassador Brent T Christensen congratulated AmCham, while Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir said the government would support AmCham's ambition to facilitate $5 billion in US investment over the next five years.

The minister said such investment should create jobs, promote technology transfer and expand economic opportunities.

AmCham also launched the “AmCham Excellence Award” to recognise outstanding contributions across sectors.
