Rajshahi, October 11: Around 100 volunteers joined a cleanliness drive at Rajshahi University and the busy Phultala area of Rajshahi city on October 9 as part of Project Clean and Care 2.0, organised by the Rajshahi Division of the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB).

The volunteers cleaned key areas of Rajshahi University, including the Shaheed Minar area, Paris Road, Amchattar and Zoha Chattar, before continuing the drive at Phultala. They also raised awareness among residents, pedestrians and street food vendors about proper waste disposal and keeping public spaces clean.

The cleanliness drive followed the project's first activity on October 8 at Budhpara Government Primary School, where around 150 volunteers distributed 150 saplings of nearly 15 fruit-bearing species among students. Around 200 students also participated in an environmental awareness activity, while a dengue prevention session was conducted to promote healthy and clean surroundings.

Held under the motto “Let’s take care of the Earth,” Project Clean and Care 2.0 aims to promote environmental conservation, public health, cleanliness and mental well-being while encouraging youth participation in social initiatives.

The project’s upcoming activities include a mental health webinar on October 11 at 9:00 pm via Facebook Live and free medical consultations for disadvantaged and marginalised people in a Santal settlement in Rajshahi on October 12. The closing programme will be held on October 14.

Grow-Up is supporting the overall implementation of the project. Other partners include Chandrakoli Foundation, Psycoach Bangladesh, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, Berlo Communications Ltd and Radio Padma 99.2 FM.

UNYSAB Rajshahi Division said the initiative seeks to strengthen community engagement and promote sustainable social change through youth-led environmental, humanitarian and development activities.
