Japan Festival 2026 showcases Japanese culture in Dhaka

DHAKA, September 21, 2026 — The Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, organised Japan Festival 2026 at the academy premises recently.

The festival, held for the first time in seven years, opened with remarks from Japanese Ambassador SAIDA Shinichi and Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury, the chief guest.

The programme featured demonstrations of traditional Japanese martial arts, including karate and kendo, followed by a live performance by Japanese singer duo Bajna Beat alongside Bangladeshi artists.

The event concluded with a performance by traditional Japanese dancer SENJU Einojo.

Visitors also had the opportunity to take part in hands-on Japanese cultural activities, including sado, or the traditional tea ceremony.

Japanese cuisine prepared by an embassy chef was also served, while displays of traditional arts such as bonsai and ikebana were arranged at the venue.

Students attending the festival had the opportunity to consult advisers about study opportunities in Japan.

The festival provided visitors with an opportunity to experience various aspects of Japanese culture and strengthen cultural exchanges between the two countries.
