Dhaka to host a vibrant celebration of Japan
The Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, is set to host Japan Festival 2026 in Dhaka on September 18, bringing Japanese traditional culture, performances and cultural activities to the Bangladeshi audience.
The festival will be held from 3:00pm to 8:30pm at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, according to the Embassy of Japan.
The event will offer visitors an opportunity to experience various aspects of Japanese culture through traditional performances, cultural exhibitions and interactive activities.
The main stage will feature authentic Japanese traditional performances, along with a live performance by Bajna Beat, adding a contemporary musical dimension to the festival.
Visitors will also be able to explore a range of Japanese cultural booths showcasing traditional and contemporary aspects of Japan. These will include a tea ceremony, Yukata trials, bonsai and ikebana displays, information on studying in Japan, and authentic Japanese cuisine.
The festival is expected to provide a platform for cultural exchange and further strengthen people-to-people ties between Japan and Bangladesh.
The Embassy has advised interested visitors to pre-register for the event, as seats are limited. Registration can be completed using the QR code provided in the festival announcement.
Japan Festival 2026 comes as part of efforts to promote greater understanding of Japanese culture in Bangladesh and encourage cultural interaction between the peoples of the two countries.
