SICIP Launches First Batch of Python Programming and UI/UX Design Training Courses
Dhaka, 29 July 2026: The first batch of the Python Programming and UI/UX Design Courses under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (29 July 2026) at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. The training program is jointly organized by SICIP and BASIS.
The inauguration ceremony was moderated by Khaleda Begum, Chief Coordinator of SICIP. The event was attended by Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Administrator of BASIS and Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division, as the Chief Guest.
Md. Rowshan Kamal James, Honorable Member of BASIS and Focal Person of the SICIP-BASIS Program, attended the event as the Special Guest, while Belal Ahmed, Member of the BASIS and SICIP Program Standing Committee (PSC), joined as the Honorable Guest. Around 60 trainees participated in the inaugural session.
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan said that such initiatives should not be viewed merely as free training courses. He emphasized that one of the Government's key priorities is to develop a skilled workforce, create employment opportunities, and integrate unemployed youth into productive economic activities. He noted that the training program would strengthen participants' existing competencies and significantly enhance their employability.
He further highlighted the importance of professional certification in the ICT sector, stating that certificates alone are not sufficient to ensure success. True expertise, he said, is developed through continuous practice and hands-on experience. Whether in law, medicine or information technology, practical application remains the key to professional excellence. He encouraged participants to make the best use of their time, continuously enhance their skills, and leverage the internationally recognized certification offered through the program to build successful careers.
Speaking as the Special Guest, Md. Rowshan Kamal James said that there is no alternative to developing a skilled workforce to meet the rapidly growing demand of Bangladesh's ICT industry. He noted that the SICIP-BASIS training program would play a vital role in equipping young people with industry-oriented skills and preparing them to meet evolving market demands. He urged the trainees to complete the program with dedication, sincerity and regular practice so that they can contribute meaningfully to the country's ICT sector.
Addressing the program as the Honorable Guest, Belal Ahmed said that BASIS has been serving as a driving force in the development of Bangladesh's ICT industry and has been working successfully in close collaboration with the Government to advance the sector. Congratulating the trainees, he encouraged them to remain committed and hardworking throughout the four-month program, acquire practical skills, and utilize the knowledge gained to contribute to both their personal growth and the country's development.
Under the SICIP-BASIS Program, training initiatives have been undertaken in several high-demand disciplines, including Python Programming, UI/UX Design, and Technical Sales Specialist. These industry-focused training programs are designed to equip participants with practical, job-ready skills that will enhance their competitiveness in both domestic and international job markets while supporting the continued growth of Bangladesh's ICT industry.
