Swiss Embassy Highlights Medieval Charm of La Neuveville

Dhaka, August 28, 2026: The Embassy of Switzerland in Dhaka has highlighted the historic town of La Neuveville, drawing attention to its medieval heritage, picturesque vineyards and scenic location along Lake Biel.

In a post shared on its official Facebook page, the Swiss Embassy presented La Neuveville as a destination where vineyards and centuries-old history come together, showcasing the town’s distinctive cultural and architectural character.

Located in the canton of Bern, La Neuveville sits on the shores of Lake Biel at the foot of the Chasseral mountain. The town is known for its historic old quarter, where cobbled streets and multi-coloured houses preserve elements of its medieval character.

The Embassy noted that visitors can discover charming architectural details on the façades of the houses while exploring the old town. A stream running through the historic centre adds another distinctive feature to the townscape.

Two historic towers, which once marked the entrance and exit of La Neuveville, also remain among the notable reminders of the town’s medieval past.

The Embassy’s post offers a glimpse into Switzerland’s cultural and architectural heritage beyond its well-known natural landscapes, highlighting the country’s historic towns and local traditions.

Situated amid vineyards, Lake Biel and the Chasseral mountain, La Neuveville reflects the combination of natural beauty and preserved historical heritage that characterizes many parts of Switzerland.
