Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider has presented his Letter of Credence to Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck as Pakistan’s non-resident ambassador to Bhutan.

The credentials were presented at an elaborate ceremony held at Dechenchholing Palace in Thimphu, according to information shared by the Pakistani side.

Later in the afternoon, the ambassador called on Bhutan’s Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel.

During their meeting, the two sides noted that Pakistan and Bhutan enjoy cordial relations based on mutual respect, goodwill and shared Buddhist heritage.

They also reiterated their intention to continue constructive engagement maintained since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1988.

The discussions covered several areas of potential cooperation, including trade, climate change, disaster management, parliamentary exchanges and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
