BRTC-Shohoz signed MoU; Services to be introduced across Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura

Dhaka, 12 August 2026: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is set to introduce dedicated bus services for women in three cities, with Shohoz taking the initiative to introduce e-ticketing to make travel more convenient, accessible and hassle-free for female passengers.

Shohoz.com and BRTC recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce e-ticketing services for women’s bus services across 14 routes in Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura.

The initiative is expected to make ticketing more convenient and reduce waiting time and other hassles for female passengers. By digitising the ticketing process, the service also aims to create a more organised and efficient experience for women using dedicated public transport services.

Safety, reliability and convenience remain key considerations for women using public transport. The introduction of digital ticketing is expected to make access to these services easier while supporting a more modern and passenger-friendly public transport system.

In the presence of BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla, Shohoz Director Shakil Zowad Rahim, other BRTC directors and senior officials, the managers of 10 depots signed agreements for operating the services across the 14 routes.

Shakil Zowad Rahim director of Shohoz said the initiative is part of the company's efforts to expand the use of digital technology in Bangladesh's public transport system. E-ticketing will make the ticketing experience more convenient and efficient for passengers while contributing to the modernisation of public transport services.

BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla said introducing digital ticketing in dedicated women’s bus services could help reduce waiting times and improve passengers’ confidence in the service. Technology-enabled ticketing could also contribute to more efficient and data-driven public transport management in the future, he added.

Following the inauguration, passengers using women’s bus services across the 14 routes in the three cities will gradually be able to access the new facility.

The initiative by Shohoz and BRTC is expected to contribute to the digital transformation of public transport in Bangladesh, particularly by introducing technology-driven services to dedicated women’s transport. It also aims to support a safer, more accessible and passenger-friendly travel experience for women.
