Switzerland Congratulates Mirza Fakhrul on Election as President
DHAKA, August 22, 2026: The Embassy of Switzerland has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the President of Bangladesh.
In a message, the Swiss Embassy conveyed its best wishes to the newly elected President and expressed its readiness to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship between Switzerland and Bangladesh.
“As a longstanding partner, we look forward to further strengthening the bilateral relations between Switzerland and Bangladesh,” the embassy said.
The congratulatory message reflects Switzerland’s continued commitment to maintaining close and constructive engagement with Bangladesh under the country’s new leadership.
Switzerland and Bangladesh have maintained diplomatic relations for decades, with bilateral cooperation encompassing areas including trade and investment, development cooperation, human rights, climate action and humanitarian affairs.
The Swiss Embassy’s message comes amid a series of congratulatory messages from Bangladesh’s international partners following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s election as the country’s 23rd President.
