Bangladesh Expresses Solidarity with Nepal After Floods
DHAKA, September 1, 2026: Bangladesh has expressed deep condolences and solidarity with Nepal following the devastating floods and mudslides that struck northern Nepal on August 26, claiming hundreds of lives and causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka on Tuesday on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh.
In his message, the State Minister conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the Government and people of Nepal over the loss of hundreds of lives, including tourists, in the natural disaster.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, I extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Government and the friendly people of Nepal,” Kobir wrote.
He expressed particular concern over the scale of destruction caused by the sudden floods and mudslides, which affected northern Nepal on August 26.
“At this hour of profound grief, our sincere thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy,” he said.
Kobir said Bangladesh stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal during the difficult period and expressed the country's readiness to provide assistance if required.
“Bangladesh expresses solidarity with the friendly people of Nepal and stands ready to extend any kind of assistance as required,” the State Minister wrote.
He also expressed confidence in the resilience and strength of the Nepalese people, saying they would overcome the challenges with fortitude.
The gesture underscores the close and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and Dhaka’s support for Nepal during the humanitarian crisis.
