China-Bangladesh Relations Discussed as Yao Wen Meets Mirza Fakhrul

DHAKA, August 30, 2026: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen called on President of Bangladesh Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday, with the two sides exchanging views on China-Bangladesh relations and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yao conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Alamgir.

The Chinese envoy said Bangladesh holds an important position in China's neighborhood diplomacy, emphasizing Beijing's commitment to pursuing a good-neighborly and friendly policy toward the people of Bangladesh.

Ambassador Yao also expressed China's readiness to work with Bangladesh to build a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era, with the aim of delivering greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir thanked President Xi Jinping for his congratulatory message following his election as Bangladesh's president.

He described China as a trustworthy and true friend of Bangladesh and reaffirmed Dhaka's commitment to maintaining friendly relations with Beijing.

President Alamgir also reiterated Bangladesh's strong adherence to the One-China principle and expressed Bangladesh's readiness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China across various fields.

He said Bangladesh looks forward to elevating bilateral relations to a new level through expanded engagement and cooperation with China.

The meeting reflects the continued importance both countries attach to strengthening Bangladesh-China relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
