Nepal Ambassador Ghanashyam Bhandari says Durga Puja can deepen Bangladesh-Nepal ties through shared cultural traditions, brotherhood and cooperation.

DHAKA: Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanashyam Bhandari, has said that Durga Puja can serve as a bridge to deepen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal, highlighting the shared cultural traditions and religious heritage of the two countries.

In a video message posted on Nepal’s verified social media accounts on Tuesday, the ambassador extended greetings to the Hindu community in Bangladesh on the occasion of Durga Puja.

“Durga Puja is not only a celebration; it also teaches us honesty, dignity, brotherhood and cooperation,” he said, highlighting the festival’s message of fighting injustice and the triumph of good over evil.

The ambassador described the festival as a testament to the cultural bonds and distinctive traditions shared by Bangladesh and Nepal, noting that the occasion is celebrated in similar ways in both countries.

He also expressed hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would grow stronger, drawing a parallel with the divine power of Goddess Durga.

Bhandari further wished for continued development and closer cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.

Durga Puja is one of the largest annual religious festivals celebrated by the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Beyond its religious significance, the festival also reflects the country’s cultural diversity and provides an opportunity to strengthen community bonds.

The Nepalese envoy concluded his message by extending greetings and best wishes to the Hindu community across Bangladesh.
