Tuku urges students to help build drug- and terrorism-free society.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today said the future generation must play an important role in building a drug- and terrorism-free and safe society.
He made the remarks while addressing a reception for meritorious students as the chief guest at Bindubashini Government Boys' High School in Tangail town.
The reception was organised at the initiative of the state minister for students who secured GPA-5 in the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations.
Urging students to stay away from drugs, terrorism and teenage gangs, Tuku said drug abuse has emerged as one of the major challenges facing society.
"Students must remain alert and aware to help build a peaceful and safe society," he said.
The state minister said the previous government had brought the country's education system to the verge of destruction, while the present government is working to restore dynamism to the sector.
Calling upon the students to dream big, he said achieving good academic results alone was not enough.
"Students must develop themselves as capable citizens by combining knowledge and skills with human values and patriotism," he said.
The meritorious students of today will lead the country and society in the future, Tuku said.
He said, as in the previous year, the reception was organised this year to honour GPA-5 achievers and the initiative would continue in the future.
Such recognition would inspire other students to achieve success, he added.
He urged every student to remain focused and work hard to fulfil their dreams.
At the programme, the state minister handed over crests, mementos and educational materials to 850 GPA-5 achievers from Tangail.
District Superintendent of Police Md Shamsul Alam Sarker, Additional Superintendent of Police HM Mahbub Rizu-an Siddiqui, officials of different government departments, teachers, guardians and media personnel were present.
