Govt facilitating cultural promotion through various initiatives: Minister

DHAKA, Sept 11: The government is facilitating the promotion of culture through various initiatives and has undertaken several projects to showcase Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage to the world, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury said on Friday.

“The ministry has taken various projects to expand and promote Bangladeshi culture across the world,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a dance-theatre performance at the Chhayanaut Auditorium in Dhaka on Friday.

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India in Dhaka organised the event, featuring the dance-theatre production “Dhora Taru Kabyo – Nature’s Tale,” inspired by Kobi Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s celebrated poem Brikkho Bondona (Ode to Trees).

The minister highlighted Bangladesh’s rich and diverse cultural heritage and reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting the country’s culture through various initiatives.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi attended the programme as the special guest.

Senior officials from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, prominent Rabindra Sangeet practitioners, renowned dancers, cultural enthusiasts, students and young professionals from Dhaka also attended the programme.

The performance explored the relationship between nature, humanity and the environment through dance and theatre, portraying the beauty and changing moods of Bengal’s six seasons.

The event also reflected the longstanding cultural bonds between Bangladesh and India, particularly through the shared legacy of Rabindranath Tagore.
