Bangladesh celebrates National Youth Day with major programs.

National Youth Day will be observed across the country tomorrow with various programmes under the theme "Skilled Youth Will Build the Nation, Bangladesh for All".

On the occasion, the government will confer the National Youth Award 2026 on 14 youths, including four youth organisers and 10 successful self-employed entrepreneurs, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the youth sector.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to attend the inaugural ceremony of the National Youth Day at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on November 1.

Ahead of the day, a youth procession was brought out today from Bangladesh Shishu Academy and ended at the premises of Mawlana Bhashani Hockey Stadium after parading through Shikkha Bhaban and Zero Point intersections.

As part of the National Youth Day programmes, the government has taken an initiative to install 12,000 renewable, environment-friendly and sustainable biogas plants across the country to help address the energy crisis, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque said at a press conference on Thursday while announcing the programmes.

Besides, a large-scale job fair featuring 55 renowned organisations will be organised on November 1 to create employment opportunities for young people.

The initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for 3,000 to 5,000 people in phases.

The state minister expressed hope that proper implementation of the government's youth-friendly training programmes, youth loans and various development projects would enable young people to play a leading role in the country's economic development.

A week-long programme has also been planned at district and upazila levels to mark the day. The programmes include cleanliness drives, dengue prevention activities, canal excavation, blood donation campaigns, sports and cultural events, and distribution of youth loans.
