Drug-free youth, science-driven future for nation
Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Prof AZM Zahid Hossain today said criminals have no identity and no one involved in criminal activities should be spared.
He stressed that drugs must be eradicated through strict enforcement of law and underlined that no one should take the law in their own hands.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a science fair at the Nabiganj Upazila Parishad auditorium in Dinajpur this afternoon.
On the occasion the minister also distributed cheques among families of road accident victims, agricultural components among farmers and bicycles among students of ethnic community.
The minister said sale, distribution, possession and use of drugs must not be tolerated under any circumstances, as drugs are ruining the youths.
“The pain of a drug addict can only be understood by that family,” he added.
The minister urged all to remain vigilant against drugs and extend full cooperation to the administration in preventing and controlling drug.
Dr Zahid appreciated the innovative projects showcased by students in the science fair. Today’s students would be country’s best scientists in the future, he said urging the younger generation to pursue modern education.
He further urged teachers to be more attentive in their teaching methods to help students develop their science-oriented mindset.
The minister distributed bicycles among 17 students from small ethnic communities.
With support from the Department of Agricultural Extension under the SACP-RAINS project, 540 farmers received one kilogram of vegetable seeds and 10 kilograms of chemical fertiliser each.
In addition, 40 farmers were provided with 2 kilograms of mung bean seeds and 10 kilograms of fertiliser each.
