Yasser: People cannot be intimidated by online threats
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today said the people of Bangladesh cannot be intimidated through online threats.
“Just as the people of the country stood up against injustice and misrule in the past, they will build a united resistance in the future as well to ensure justice for all crimes, including enforced disappearances and killings,” he said.
The state minister made the remarks as the chief speaker while addressing a rally organised by the Mymensingh North District unit of BNP at Dhan Mahal in Haluaghat municipal area this afternoon in protest against Awami League’s acts of terror and attempts to create instability in the country.
Yasser said the country’s people, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, established democracy and restored voting rights after enduring imprisonment, repression and persecution for 17 years and.
Those seeking to disrupt the country’s democratic progress must be confronted with the people’s participation, he said, adding, those who had long attempted to destabilise the country through plundering and terrorism must be brought to justice.
“No one will be allowed to escape accountability by threatening the safety and security of the country’s people and their property,” the state minister said.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince said the country is facing various conspiracies at home and abroad while moving forward with reconstruction, addressing public problems and implementing electoral pledges.
He called upon all to remain vigilant in this regard, saying that the country’s people of do not want terrorism, anarchy or instability.
“BNP does not believe in the politics of conflict. However, a firm stance will be taken against any attempt to undermine the country’s stability,” Emran said, adding that those involved in violence and anarchy would be brought under the law.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince addressed the rally as the chief guest with Mymensingh North District BNP Convener Professor AKM Enayetullah Kalam in the chair. Mymensingh Development Authority Chairman and Joint Convener of the Mymensingh North District BNP Motahar Hossain Talukdar spoke as the special guest.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations from the district and upazilas attended the rally.
