Zahir Swapon praises UN role in Bangladesh’s development
Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Zahir Uddin Swapon has highly commended the role of the United Nations in Bangladesh’s development journey.
He expressed hope that the United Nations would remain more closely involved in the government’s ongoing development and public welfare activities under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He made the remarks when UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Stephen Rodrigues paid a courtesy call on him at the adviser’s office at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon here.
During the meeting, the UN resident representative expressed firm commitment to playing a more effective role in Bangladesh’s development initiatives.
The meeting emphasized consultations and coordination with all stakeholders on how the incumbent government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, can work to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people on a larger scale.
Detailed discussions were also held on institutional reform initiatives following the July Uprising.
