President stresses productivity for economic growth and competitiveness.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said productivity is one of the most important foundations of a country's economic progress, competitiveness and improvement in people's living standards.
“There is no alternative to increasing productivity to ensure the optimum use of limited resources, improve product quality, reduce production costs and wastage, and enhance competitiveness in international markets,” he said in a message issued here today marking the National Productivity Day-2026.
In the message, the President greeted all working people, entrepreneurs, professionals, technologists, researchers and everyone involved in the production and service sectors of the country.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “However, amid the constantly changing global economic landscape, influenced by science and information technology, we must develop our industrial and service sectors to become more efficient, innovative and technology-driven.”
He said alongside large industrial entrepreneurs, small, micro and medium entrepreneurs are also making important contributions to employment generation, industrialization and economic activities in the country.
In this regard, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, coordinated initiatives involving the government, industrial entrepreneurs, workers, researchers, educational institutions and all relevant stakeholders are extremely important.
“I hope that the National Productivity Organization will continue to provide necessary training, research, consultancy and technical assistance to increase productivity in the country's industrial and service institutions.
Fakhrul Islam said he is looking forward to Bangladesh being able to build a more productive, competitive and sustainable industrial economy in the near future through the appropriate and coordinated use of sustainable innovation, modern technology and skilled human resources.
The President wished every success to all programmes of the day.
