Proposal made to launch metropolitan police unit in Cumilla.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher today said a proposal has been made to launch metropolitan police unit in Cumilla, considering the area, population and necessity.
“The matter has been discussed with the home minister and efforts are underway to move the process forward,” he told journalists after a view-exchange meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s Office here.
The meeting discussed law and order, control of corruption and drugs, good governance, transparency and accountability, social safety-net programmes, and development activities, with district administration officials, heads of various government offices and other relevant stakeholders.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip ABM Ashraf Uddin, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in House and Cumilla-11 MP Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher and Cumilla-4 MP Hasnat Abdullah, local MPs, administrative and police officers concerned also attended the meeting.
