Rizvi urges cross-party united effort to prevent dengue.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called for a unified, cross-party effort against dengue.

He stressed that prevention is not the government's job alone. It requires the combined effort of the government, local administration, political parties, medical professionals, students, and the general public, he said, adding that raising awareness and destroying Aedes mosquito breeding grounds can significantly slow the spread of the disease.

He spoke as chief guest at Chattogram Medical College Hospital today where leaflets on dengue prevention were distributed as part of a nationwide BNP initiative. He handed them out to patients, their relatives, and members of the public.

Rizvi urged people not to neglect dengue if they contract it and to seek medical advice promptly. Anyone with a fever should avoid self-medication and instead get the necessary tests and proper treatment, he said, adding that preventing dengue takes both personal awareness and collective social action, and public awareness initiatives must be strengthened to save lives.
Chattogram City Corporation Administrator Dr. Shahadat Hossain said the first step in prevention is to know where Aedes mosquitoes multiply. “They can breed in water collected in flower pots, buckets, bottles, discarded tires, coconut shells, plastic cups, rooftops, construction sites, and beneath refrigerators and air conditioners. Water should never be left standing for more than three days, and containers should be cleared regularly,” he added.

Ershadullah, MP,   Sayeed Al Noman, MP, and BNP leaders and activists from affiliated organizations, physicians, medical students, political figures, and other stakeholders attended in the function.
