Stocks fall, DSE turnover crosses Tk 544 crore
Dhaka stocks fell on Thursday, with all three major indices closing lower as investors remained cautious amid selling pressure.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw 21.76 crore shares and mutual fund units of 387 companies change hands during the session.
The total turnover on the premier bourse stood at Tk 544.42 crore.
The DSE Broad Index (DSEX), the benchmark index of the market, fell 22.71 points from the previous trading session to close at 5,515.17.
The DSE-30 index, comprising 30 leading companies, declined 7.72 points to 2,095.31, while the DSE Shariah Index shed 5.76 points to close at 1,105.06.
Of the issues traded, 103 advanced, 230 declined and 54 remained unchanged.
Envoy Textiles topped the turnover chart, followed by Fortune Shoes (Sharif Industries), EXIM Bank 1st Mutual Fund, Paramount Textile, Saiham Textile, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Malek Spinning, Nitol Insurance, Mercantile Islami Insurance and Southeast Bank.
CAPM DBBL Mutual Fund 01 led the gainers, followed by Phoenix Finance 1st Mutual Fund, EXIM Bank 1st Mutual Fund, Sena Insurance, Mercantile Islami Insurance, NCCBL Mutual Fund-1, ICB AMCL CMSF Golden Jubilee Mutual Fund, First Janata Bank Mutual Fund, EBL NRB Mutual Fund and ICB AMCL Second Mutual Fund.
Reliance Insurance led the decliners, followed by Desh Garments, AFC Agro Biotech, First Finance, Pragati Life Insurance, Navana Pharmaceuticals, Al-Haj Textile, Desh Spinning, Sonargaon Textiles and Chartered Life Insurance.
The DSE's total market capitalisation stood at around Tk 6.93 lakh crore at the end of the session.
