Xi Jinping Congratulates Mirza Fakhrul on Becoming Bangladesh President
DHAKA, August 24, 2026: Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his inauguration as the President of Bangladesh.
In a congratulatory message sent on August 24, President Xi said China and Bangladesh are close neighbours with a long-standing friendship.
He noted that over the past 51 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have consistently respected and treated each other as equals, supported each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns, and pursued their respective paths of modernization through cooperation.
According to Xi, China-Bangladesh relations have withstood the test of changing international circumstances and continued to develop on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.
President Xi said he is ready to work with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to carry forward the two countries' traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication, enhance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and expand exchanges and cooperation across various sectors.
He expressed hope that these efforts would help deepen and deliver tangible outcomes for the China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era, bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
