Yasser mourns bdnews24 editor-in-chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today expressed deep shock and grief at the death of eminent journalist Toufique Imrose Khalidi, editor-in-chief of country’s leading online news outlet bdnews24.com.
In a condolence message, Yasser Khan prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family, colleagues and well-wishers.
He said Khalidi was a prominent figure in the country’s journalism arena. Under his leadership, bdnews24.com played an important role in the development of online journalism in Bangladesh and contributed to opening new horizons for digital media in news reporting, he said.
Throughout his long career in journalism, he made significant contributions to professionalism, media freedom and the practice of fact-based journalism, said Yasser.
Khalidi’s contribution to the modernization of Bangladesh’s media and the development of digital journalism would be remembered, he said.
“His death is an irreparable loss for the country’s journalism profession,” said the state minister.
Khalidi assumed the position of Managing Director of bdnews24.com in 2006 and later served as the organization’s Editor-in-Chief, advancing its journalism and digital news operations.
