Stocks edge lower as turnover stands at Tk 634 crore
DHAKA, Sept 29: Stocks edged lower at the Dhaka Stock Exchange yesterday, with the benchmark index falling 1.50 points amid Tk 634.52 crore in turnover.
The DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, closed at 5,524.37, while the DS30 index declined 3.26 points to 2,094.68. The DSES index, which tracks Shariah-compliant stocks, fell 2.14 points to 1,098.04.
Of the 395 issues traded, prices of 142 advanced, 178 declined and 75 remained unchanged.
A total of 20.84 crore shares and mutual fund units changed hands on the day.
Saiham Textile topped the turnover chart, followed by IPDC Finance, Saiham Cotton, Paramount Textile, Orion Infusion, Sharp Industries, Apex Spinning, Reliance Insurance, BRAC Bank and Malek Spinning.
Midas Finance led the gainers, followed by Saiham Cotton, Premier Cement, Sonarbangla Insurance, Dullamia Cotton, BD Thai Food, Saiham Textile, Sharp Industries, Aramit Cement and Matin Spinning.
Hamid Fabrics was the biggest loser, followed by People's Leasing, Premier Leasing, Vanguard AML Rupali Bank Balanced Fund, Orion Infusion, Tallu Spinning, Apollo Ispat, Khulna Printing and Packaging, Daffodil Computers and Khan Brothers PP Woven.
The DSE's market capitalisation stood at Tk 68,518,929.54 million at the end of the session.
